Sonofapup is a name adopted by Sean Dower for solo electronic music projects. Sonofapup
began working with Amiga computers and midi, together with outboard synths and drum
machines in 1995 and went on to embrace the developing technology of software-based
instruments, samplers and recording via new and emerging digital platforms.
Music exclusively made on the IOS mobile operating system.
Produced on the road in Europe, Mexico and USA.

Drug Den - remote characterisation system
Drug Den, 2001. Video with sound 5 mins.
A camera-based, remote characterisation system investigates and transmits film from a woodland
clearing. As the vehicle manoeuvres in and around the clearing, a scattering of paraphernalia for
‘getting high’ becomes evident. The video was filmed syncretically, whilst listening to the electronic
soundtrack by Sonofapup, which guides the rhythm of filming and is included in the final video. More information and video >

I want to dance was produced for 'Song Poems', curated by artist Steven Hull. The project involved
collaboration between about 100 writers, musicians, video makers and graphic artists and resulted
in exhibitions and performances in New York, Los Angeles and Dallas.

A Remote Characterisation System addresses hazardous or remote operational problems at a
distance via remote monitoring. This experimental 'RCS' was developed by the artist using a
remote transmitter and receiver to direct the vehicle and camera from a concealed location.

Left: Vizualiser video #3 was auto-generatedusing the Tech RTA live visual plugin, which translates sound into a multi-channel sound level meter. The improvised soundtrack was made in 1996 using Quicktime instruments and the OMS test facility. In this version, each mouse click triggers a random permutation of notes and sounds from a total of 128 possible instruments. The player can only affect the rest between notes and the sustain (by keeping the mouse button depressed).
